About this drill · FAQ
Options Mock Trading puts you in a market maker’s seat: a stock ladder and an options board, a moving underlying, and theos you have to keep current as spot moves.
What you do
- You start with a theo for every call and put on the board, plus each call’s delta.
- Click the left side of the stock ladder to place a limit buy, the right side to place a limit sell.
- Right-click a ladder row to cancel all your orders at that price.
- Orders appear on the options board, and you trade the ones that are good value against your theo.
- The underlying moves throughout the session, so a theo that was right a minute ago goes stale.
- Delta Adjust moves your option theos with the live stock price instead of a fixed reference.
What it trains
- Updating an option’s value from its delta as the stock moves, fast enough to act on it.
- Taking only trades with positive expected value against your own theo.
- Hedging option risk with stock while watching your net delta across options and shares.
- Keeping several positions in your head at once while prices keep changing.
How sessions work
- Sessions run 180, 300 or 600 seconds. The 180-second session is free, and longer ones are on Pro.
- Set how many shares each ladder click trades, choosing 100, 1,000, 5,000 or 25,000 shares.
- At the end you see your PnL over time with your option trades marked, plus your net delta.
FAQ
- Who is it for?
- Candidates preparing for options market-making interviews, and anyone who wants reps on delta and theo updates before a trading internship.
- Is it like the SIG mock trading round?
- It practises the same skills: pricing against a theo, reacting as the market moves and managing delta. It is our own simulation and does not reproduce SIG’s internal game. See the SIG guide for what the real interview covers.
- Do I need to know options pricing first?
- You need put-call parity and what delta means. The game hands you starting theos and deltas, so no model is required.
