Arithmetic Zetamac
About this drill · FAQ
Arithmetic Zetamac is the classic mental math speed drill: answer as many addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems as you can before the clock runs out.
Format
- Four operations, mixed at random, with 120 seconds on the clock by default.
- Addition uses two numbers from 2 to 100. Subtraction is addition in reverse.
- Multiplication pairs a number from 2 to 12 with one from 2 to 100. Division is multiplication in reverse.
- The defaults match the classic zetamac.com settings, and every range and duration can be changed.
- A correct answer scores a point and moves you straight to the next problem.
What a good score is
- Across 54 TraderPrep sessions at 120 seconds, as of September 2026, the median score is 32.
- A score of 52 or more puts you in the top quarter of TraderPrep players.
- A score of 67 or more puts you in the top tenth.
Tips
- Know the times tables to 12 cold. Every multiplication and division problem uses one of them.
- Read division as a missing factor: 84 ÷ 7 is the number that times 7 gives 84.
- Add left to right, tens first, then units. It is faster than carrying in your head.
- Keep your hand on the number keys. The answer box clears itself, so you never press Enter.
- Play short daily sessions and track your score at one fixed duration.
FAQ
- Is it the same as zetamac.com?
- It is the same drill with the same default settings: four operations, the same number ranges and 120 seconds. Your scores are saved to your TraderPrep account so you can track progress.
- Is it free and unlimited?
- Yes. Arithmetic Zetamac has no daily limit and every duration is open without Pro.
- Which interviews does it prepare you for?
- Timed arithmetic screens such as the Optiver 80 in 8 and the Flow Traders math test. Both score wrong answers against you, so use this drill for speed and the 80 in 8 simulator for the format.
