One Trip to the Barn

A farmhouse kitchen has three ordinary wall switches, each wired to exactly one of three incandescent bulbs up in the barn loft across the yard. From the kitchen you cannot see the loft at all. You may toggle the switches however you like and take as long as you want, but you get exactly one trip to the loft. How do you determine which switch controls which bulb?
